The Playlist Update Schedule: Why You Should Know It

Your playlist updates. New channels appear. Dead channels disappear. EPG refreshes. But when? Every hour? Every day? Every week?

A transparent British iptv reseller publishes their playlist update schedule. "Playlist refreshes every 6 hours. EPG updates every 4 hours."

The British iptv service I use has a status page showing last playlist update and next scheduled update.

A secretive IPTV reseller UK never says. You discover changes randomly. Or never.

Here's why you should know the update schedule:

New channels. When will they appear? Right away? Next scheduled update?

Dead channels. When will they be removed? After you complain? Next update?

EPG fixes. When will corrected EPG appear? Next EPG update?

Recording schedules. If you set a recording based on EPG, when does EPG refresh?

Common update schedules:

Every hour. Very frequent. Good for fast fixes. Heavy on servers.

Every 6 hours. Balanced. Most changes appear within half a day.

Every 24 hours. Slow. New channels take a day to appear. Dead channels linger.

Manual only. Reseller must push updates. Worst. You wait.

I asked my reseller about update schedule. "Playlist updates every 6 hours. EPG every 4 hours." I set my expectations. New channel requested? Check after 6 hours.

Another reseller had no schedule. I requested a channel. It appeared 3 days later. No notification. I just noticed it.

Ask your reseller: "What's your playlist update schedule?" A good reseller will know. A bad reseller won't.

What to do with this information:

Set expectations. New channel requested? Don't expect it instantly.

Refresh manually if needed. If you need changes immediately, force a manual refresh.

Plan recordings. Ensure EPG is fresh before setting scheduled recordings.

Complain if schedule slips. "Playlist hasn't updated in 24 hours. Is something wrong?"

Knowing the schedule reduces frustration. You're not waiting wondering.

Schedule = predictability. Predictability = peace of mind.
